Tuition fees
University College Maastricht (UCM) is part of Maastricht University, and charges the nationally regulated tuition fee. However, as the program is intensive, small scale and offers personal attention and an academic community, it is in the process of getting permission from the Dutch government to charge a higher tuition fee of € 1,200 on top of the nationally determined standard tuition fee for EU/EEA students who start from September 2012 onwards (the higher tuition fee is not applicable for current students). Please note that the tuition fee differs for students from inside or outside the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA).
Tuition fees for the academic year 2012-2013:
Nationals from EU/EEA countries, including Switzerland and Suriname:
• Full-time bachelor's students: regular fee € 1,771 + € 1,200
• Full-time bachelor's students: increased statutory tuition fee € 4,834* + € 1,200
*The increased statutory tuition fee is also known as the "langstudeerderstarief" (study delay fee). You can read more about this topic in our FAQ section on Study delay.
Other nationalities:
• Full-time bachelor's students: € 8,500
EU and EEA countries:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus (the Greek part), Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland (EEA), Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein (EEA), Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway (EEA), Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Suriname and Switzerland are treated as EU/EEA countries for the application process.
Information on how to finance your studies, including a waiver procedure, can be found on the financing your studies page.
Important notes:
The tuition fee does not cover books, accommodation and other living expenses.
The tuition fee can be paid in one lump sum or in installments. Paying in installments is only possible if you have a Dutch bank account.
In case you don’t live (and are also not registered) in one of the following areas during your studies: the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Niedersachsen and Bremen; OR if you're starting a second Dutch bachelor’s or master’s degree, you will be charged the higher fee of € 8,500 (full-time).
Recently big changes have been made in the tuition fees that students are required to pay. Not only is your nationality an important factor, but also where you live and whether this is your first or second study programme. Also, the tuition fee rate may change during your studies – for example, if you move house – even in the graduation phase. To find out which rate applies to you, you can use the click model of Maastricht University.
